Research and Innovation are an important part of the culture and activities at Wansford surgery. We are research active and currently take part in 10-12 studies per year with a portfolio encompassing Industry and NHS portfolio studies. We also deliver teaching on primary care aspects of clinical research. Dr Takhar has been involved in regional research networks and is currently a Division clinical lead with the CRN ( clinical research network) EAstern region, part of the NIHR - National Institute of Health Research

 

 

All staff directly involved in research are trained in Good clinical Practice - which is a seriois of principles and guidelines about the conduct of research.More on info on our Research training page - GCP in primary care

Current studies and projects:

1. PSOABLE –testing a new foam aerosol treatment for psoriasis

2. VESTRI– childhood asthma study – monitoring the safety and effectiveness of an asthma inhaler in children

3. SUMMIT – COPD – a long term study of a combination inhaler

4  ARRIVE – Aspirin - a long term study to help asnwer the the controversy of whether low dose aspirin is effective in preventing cardiovascular disease

5. ESXCEL – Exenatide once weekly - a long term study on the benefit of a once weekly injection for diabetes

6  AFFIRM – an observational study on the safety and effectivesness of flutiform inhaler for asthma

7 IMPETIGO study – in setup

8 MID FRAIL – in setup

9 ARCHIE – in setup
